Mile Marker

These signs are also known as reference markers or enhancement reference signs. They are tall, think rectangular blue or green signs with white lettering. These signs help you locate where you are on the road. They improve emergency response times to highway incidents.

Each mile marker includes the direction of travel, route number and mile number. They are at every one to two-tenths of a mile. You can find them on the right side of the road or in the median.
