The top priority of law enforcement is the safety and well-being of the public. If pulled over, police will see if there is a possible incident, crime or minor violation of law. If stopped by law enforcement, you should: • Pull off to the right-hand side of the road when you see emergency lights flashing
Driving Situations
Put your vehicle in park, turn off your car and radio
Stay in your vehicle and keep your seatbelt on
Roll down your window
Put your hands on the top of the steering wheel in plain sight
Do not make any sudden movements or reach for things around you
Do not argue if given a ticket. You will have an opportunity in front of a judge or court to express concerns. Stay calm and follow the officers’ directions. You will get back on your way as soon as possible.
